aural pleasure
ahhh.
dearest readers.
apologies aplogies apologies for the lack of updating updating updating.
i have a perfectly valid reason for this, i swear!
you see, i was all ready to upload all these pics of paris onto the net and then update the blog.
but lo and behold, the ppl hosting arzish.com[which,btw,ive been way too lazy to do anything with]inform me that i've exceeded my bandwidth for th month, and thus, cant upload the parisian pics.
so as a result, i gave up on the idea of posting the pics and took a temporary hiatus.
ill be able to upload pics on the 1st of September onwards, so be patient.
in other news, lots has been happening since i last left you.
the dreaded school semester has begun, and things are pretty much in full swing once again.
the new batch of students are just as bad as the old batch.
510 girls, 87guys.
all coming in with a combined IQ of...7.2.
yes, they are that dumb.
and fugly to boot.
ah well.
heres to more vietnamese idiots, obese fashionista-wannabes, skinny guys in singlets, and so on.
went for womad the other day with le gf, lesley and her friends.
waste of time if you ask me.
apparently, the student concession applies only to those under 18.
wtf.
kids under 18 fall under 'children', not students.
so we had to pay $40, and the acts were very disappointing.
last year's one, and the year before that, were way better.
thank you womad, for being the capitalist, money-sucking, pseudo-world-music-propagating organization that you are.
kudos.
the gf and i watched snakes on a plane.
it was hella B-grade, but entertaining.
honestly, just go in with 0 expectations, you'll do fine.
im takin some interesting modules this semester, namely a philosophy module and one about genes.
will let y'all know how that comes along.
speaking of concerts, a friend was asking me which is the best concert ive ever been for.
in order to decide that, i gotta run through a list of the ones ive been for.
duran duran [hello 80s rock]
oasis [wasnt that good honestly]
third eye blind, eve6 [this was in boston, and was definitely in my top3]
incubus [went all the way to KL to watch this one.was well worth it.great live band]
slipknot [hell yes.another top3 concert]
hoobastank [i went for the one in hardrock cafe, when they were actualy semi-decent]
hoobastank [in sentosa.this was on undercover duty for the police, so it was free.utter crap concert tho]
rolling stones [you go grandads!]
mayhem [hardcore concert for a scandinavian black metal band.moshing has never been more violent]
dark funeral [another scandinavian black metal band. quite an experience]
P.O.D [free live concert at the youth park. pretty enjoyable]
the bravery [nice crowd, interesting music]
paul oakenfold [not really a concert.an utter crap set]
bally sagoo [another utter crap set]
urban exchange [local hiphop group.props to terry for the free tix]
but my favourite concert of all time has to be
asian dub foundation
these brit boys were off the hook.
the concert was in fort canning.
they started off with a 2hour dj set to get the crowd in the mood.
on comes the band, giving an electrifying performance.
flawless rapping, smooth flow, awesome bass, beautiful riffs and,
to top it off,
amazing, amazing drumming.
if you've heard of adf, you'd know that their drum beats are somewhat drum n bass-ish, so the drummer was hella fast.
and out of the blue, on comes a huge punjabi dude by the name of rocky[actual name:rokhwinderpaljotedeepjeetjotepal.yes trust me thats his real name]
carrying an equally huge 'dhol'. [big traditional indian drum thing]
he beats the dhol as if he were beating his cheating wife.
i kid i kid.
only prob was i lost my tshirt at the concert.
ah well you win some you lose some.
so yeah, my answer to the question of fave concert has to be:
asian dub foundation
next month, im goin for SLAYER. \m/
so lets see if that lives up to its billing.
aite thats pretty much it for now.
much loving to le gf[who im not seeing as much as i'd like to thanks to the bane of my existence, aka school of doom]
and all those who matter
im out.
