until the morning
the last time i updated was more than a month ago...
whats happened since then?
well the exams finished, and with them went all my hopes of good grades.
last sem it was my busted knee
this sem it was stupidity in choosing a module i thought would be interesting.
ive always thought that university would be a place where i would develop as an individual, both academically and behavior-wise.
what i never anticipated was that the entire university life is one big rat-race.
to top it off, further learning is not encouraged.
what is encouraged is mugging and memorizing, and lying and oneupmanship
the reason my university will never actually be a world class university is not down to its lack of trying.
trust me, the schools PR people are doing their very best.
the core of the problem is that basically, they are promoting and rewarding the wrong values and priorities.
Take the module that i took for instance.
It was a breadth module, meaning it was not from my faculty.
Basically, it was an introductory Biology course.
Due to my ignorance and blind(misplaced)faith in the university, I opted for it.
To my amazement, the course was open to everyone, including those who had taken biology for their A level exams!
talk about an uneven playing field.
while i was struggling to grasp the contents of a cell, the kids who had taken bio before would be in the lecture, playing counterstrike on their laptops.
yet in the midterms, i managed a pathetic score, while they all got nearly full marks.
no, this is not a case of sour grapes.
its more a diatribe highlighting the inadequacies of the university system here, and why we will never ever be able to match the harvards and oxfords, regardless of what the local media tells you.
but its a lesson well learnt i guess.
ok on to lighter things.
first off, my car is back!
so far, it seems like its back to its normal sexy self.
the holidays have flown by.
we had a great time at the recent costume party(everyone should go to at least one in their youth).
also, my birthday just passed, and there was a lovely party at my place.

so now im 23.
theres only one word to describe what i feel.
